COMMUNITY CREW COURSE (CCC)

Perfect for beginners and young people. The CCC introduces crew roles, safety, and practical activity on board. It is supported by the Canal and River Trust and widely used by schools and community groups.

Best for: New volunteers and first-time learners.

BOAT HANDLING COURSE

Ideal for people preparing to hire a canal boat or support community trips. This course is delivered by an approved NCBA trainer and builds essential skills in steering, manoeuvring, and safety.

CERTIFICATE IN COMMUNITY BOAT MANAGEMENT
(CCBM)

A qualification for operating boats with up to 12 passengers on non-tidal waterways. The course covers handling, maintenance, and safety. It is fully endorsed by the CRT and recommended in the Small Passenger Boat Code.​

 Age: 18+ with experience.

Best for: Aspiring skippers and experienced volunteers.
